From Chennai: At least 27 students at a Tamil Nadu private school in Dharapuram in Tiruppur district tested positive for COVID-19. Two Class 10 boys were admitted to a hospital with Coronavirus symptoms, so swab samples were collected from students and faculty members.
Two students from a private school on Karur Main Road were taken to Government Hospital in Dharapuram on November 27 after showing symptoms of COVID-19.
On November 29, the department collected 374 swab samples. The report of 25 students - 13 girls and 12 boys - came back positive for COVID-19. They are in classes 10, 11, and 12. Despite their asymptomatic status, they were sent home to be isolated. The school is closed because of disinfection work.
Since Omicron, the government has increased monitoring of government and private schools block-by-block regarding adherence to the COVID-19. Tiruppur district has intensified its standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Parents and children are being informed, and people have been encouraged to get vaccinated when their turn comes.
